You've had your old innerspring mattress for over a decade and it's starting to show its age. You're in the market for a new mattress, but not sure if that's all you need.
Well, things have changed quite a bit in the last 10 years, but good news: We want to make sure you're totally satisfied with that new mattress so read on for a few recommendations worth considering.
Love Your Mattress Plans
Although our Sleep Experts do our best to make sure that your new mattress is the perfect fit before you leave the store, occasionally it turns out that you needed something softer or firmer after you've had a few months to sleep on it.
That's where our Love Your Mattress plans come in. Not only do they include additional pieces to help complete your purchase (we'll get into that more below), but you can also rest assured that if you don't love your new mattress, you can exchange it for up to 18 months! New mattress cost more than the original? No problem, just pay the difference!
The Basics
Mattress Protectors
At a bare minimum, it's always a good idea to cover your new mattress with a mattress protector. This helps keep the fabric and fill clean and will prevent your mattress from picking up odors and stains. Some of us sleep hot... Without a mattress protector, that sweat, the dirt of the day, oils from skin, etc., all grind themselves into the fibers of your mattress while you sleep. Like to enjoy the odd snack or beverage in bed? A mattress protector is a lifesaver in case of an accidental spill.
Pillows
What you rest your head on has come a long way in recent years too, with major mattress manufacturers using the same types of technology in pillows. More breathable with different firmnesses and cuts for various sleeping positions, they're a far cry from the down pillow you might have grown up with. Sleeping on an old worn-out pillow can also cause neck and spine issues, leading to lower-quality sleep and potential health issues.
Sheets
You don't want to skimp on the sheets. That new mattress protector is awesome, but they aren't made to be slept on directly. The right sheets don't just make your bed more comfortable, but they can also help keep you cooler and dryer.
Adjustable Bases
An adjustable base is an experience that can't be fully described... You just have to try it! Gone are the days of sleeping flat on your back, side or stomach. Adjustable bases are for more than just general comfort. They can help alleviate snoring, reduce hearburn, help with acid reflux, and more! Like to watch TV in bed too? No need to stack a bunch of pillows to try to get your head elevated. Just tilt your adjustable base!
Decoration
Your bed is the centerpiece of your bedroom. With such an investment, it's worth drawing as much attention to it as possible! A few complimentary accent pieces to consider are:
- Quilts
- Duvets and coverlets
- Comforters
- Accent pillows
- Decorative and functional blankets
YOU!
And finally, the last, but most important part is... YOU! A mattress is a uniquely personal choice. The average person spends a third of their life sleeping. Take your time to be sure that your new mattress is the best fit, and be sure to let the Sleep Experts at Wichita Furniture help you through the buying process!
